There is benefit to working jointly across a wider geographical area than a trust to produce a critical mass, disseminate good practice and share expertise. As a result AAAQIP uses a regional implementation process to drive improvements in AAA care delivery through the implementation of an AAA care pathway. To help sustain this means of communication and collaboration the Cardiac and Stroke Networks (C&S Networks) have been working with AAAQIP to offer support in various regions throughout England.

C&S Networks are set up in all regions throughout England and they link to a wide range of excellent health organisations that serve a diverse cultural and ethnic population. C&S Networks help to bring together clinicians, managers and other professionals from all organisations within the local region to work together to deliver equitable, high quality and effective patient focused cardiac and stroke care. More recently these networks are also providing a supporting network for the delivery of vascular care.

In addition these networks focus upon Collaborative Commissioning. The AAAQIP team are encouraging commisioning bodies to engage with C&S Network managers in collaboration with clinicians in each region to drive forward a high standard of care delivery in AAA surgery. Please visit the Regional Action Plan pages to see how C&S Networks have been engaging in various regions throughout the country and the POVS document will outline the minimum service provision standards for a vascular service provider.
